The Office - Episode 509

In this episode of "The Office" we enjoy one of the dullest presentations of a Breyer collection I've ever seen. Snorrre.

But at least it's a pretty decent collection, with Clydesdale Stallion in the window, Clydesdale Mare on the end table, along with the back end of a Running Mare on the dresser. Also the buckskin pinto San Domingo, the black appaloosa Running Stock Foal, the sorrel Running Foal.

Here we see the Clydes Stallion in the window! Pam's parents had good taste!

Thanks to Lynn W and Nicole H for this contribution!

Criminal Minds

In the "The Tribe" episode of the series "Criminal Minds", this small collection was spotted in "Nicole's" room!
That's most likely the very dark bay "Mesa", with the old palomino Western Horse, and the small porcelain "Rain" and "Spirit" in front.

Thank you, Lynn W., for your sharp eyes!

Breyers in Online Games!

You'll never know where Breyers will pop up, even in virtual worlds!!

From an Online Game "Hidden Object":

Right near the center-top you can make out out the Breyer "Rimrock" on the Adios mold...just barely! Neat!

And... from another hidden objects game, "Animal Agents"...right in the center we see a little silver Classic Mustang Foal (trust me, it's there)

Thanks to the wary eyes of DooWiki on Blab for these leads!

Hoarders: Buried Alive - TLC

When I heard about this episode, I thought it was the already-documented A&E "Hoarders" episode with the model horses in it. But no, this is a fresh, all-new episode of TLC's copycat series, "Hoarders: Buried Alive" that aired 8/22/10. Haven't been able to get any screen caps yet, so if anyone is able, let me know!

I did find pix from a local news article on the episode. Most interesting is the close relationship between "collecting" and "hoarding". I hope I'm still in the Collecting column, lol!

This might be one of the first times a Peter Stone product has been featured in this Blog! I guess it's only a matter of time! Congratulations, Peter!

16 Candles

Thanks to scout Lynn W. for finding this one for me! From "Sixteen Candles".

Obsessed

This Breyer Sighting is from the A&E TV series, "Obsessed" (Season 2, Episode 13). Kind of hard to see the Breyer "Rimrock" on the Adios mold on the dresser.

Thanks to the sharp eyes of Heather H. for this contribution!

Thank You For Smoking

No matter what movie I'm watching, I always keep an eye out for Breyers or model horses in the background! "Thank You For Smoking" was no exception!

Granted, it's not a horse, but a Breyer Longhorn Bull! Hey, close enough!

K-Pax

Who would guess that the Sci Fi flick, "K-Pax", would have Breyers in it! Even stranger, who the heck keeps their Breyers on top of the refrigerator????

Looks like the Breyer FAS #814 from 1989-90, and the Classic Andalusian Mare in Buckskin up there. Too bad they didn't use Running Stallions, then they'd fall over every time they closed the fridge door!

Thanks to Blabber Kim. A for this great detective work!

The Lovely Bones

It's getting to be that just about any movie that involves a young female in danger is guaranteed to have model horses in it somewhere!! (War of the Worlds, The Dead Girl, Taken). "The Lovely Bones" turned out to be no exception, although ironically, the Horse Shaped Object (HSO) was actually in the little BOY'S bedroom!

You can tell it's the little boy's room because of the race car wall paper. And up on the shelf, an old Marx Johnny West series horse and rider (Is that Pancho the pony? I believe so). This movie takes place around 1973-74, I don't believe they were making the "Best of the West" toys then, which means this might be a hand-me-down. Poor kid doesn't have any of the accessories for it, not even a bridle!

If there's one thing good to say about Susan Sarandon, she certainly plays boozy old broads very well!

Call of the Wild - 2009

The sharp eyes of another scout found this very impressive display of Breyers in the recent version of "Call of the Wild"!

What restaurant is that with a Breyer Buffet!!!??? I want!!!

Thank you, Blab's Whinnie!

Purple Rain

I've been trying to get these photos from Purple Rain for months! Finally the library had the DVD available!

This film doesn't really have anything to do with horses, just that the protagonist, "The Kid", has sort of a foofy lifestyle with harlequin dolls and fluffy shirts and too much eye make-up (but he still likes girls, if you catch my drift). But he DOES have plenty of HSOs (Horse-Shaped Objects), with unidentified unicorns and pegasi, and some very identifiables for our enjoyment!

In an intro shot to The Kid's lovely basement apartment (cough cough), we get a close-up of an old Hartland "Horse and Rider" series horse. I THINK it might be Dale Evans' "Buttermilk" or maybe Palladin's Horse.

Bad Apollonia, ignoring the poor bent-over Breyer Fighting Stallion on the shelf behind her!
Here's another shot of that same shelf, later on in the movie. Maybe there's not enough height to that shelf to allow the horse to be displayed properly.
Looks like a cheesy Hong Kong on the shelf above it. Looks like The Kid isn't much into organization, with horses scattered willynilly.

Later on, pondering his father's words, we see a horse-shaped blur behind him.
I'm wondering if that might not be the Breyer "Sham". It kind of looked like it when I zoomed in on the television.

Another opening shot towards the end of the film, more random HSOs.

And we tickle the ivories half-naked by candlelight.
But there's BREYERS on the top of that piano!!

We never get a good shot of them, but I swear the one on the left is the Classic Arabian Stallion:
And I suspect the one on the far left is the Classic Mustang Mare.

I just hope that when The Kid moves out of his parents' basement after achieving the fame he sought for so long, that he carefully packs up his horses and brings them to his new above-ground abode!

Gilmore Girls

Astute viewer Lynn W. spotted this Breyer Classic Black Stallion in the "Application Episode" of "The Gilmore Girls". Awesome!

LOL..."I Am The Biggest Horse in the WORLD!"

Thanks, Lynn!

Rescue Me

This show is one of my guilty pleasures, I don't even know if it's still on the air or not, I've been renting the DVDs from Netflix.

But you never know where horse shaped objects will show up, and I was tickled to spot these in the background of the boarding school daughter's room!

The rosettes were a dead giveaway, and of course she keeps her hunt cap on the empty chair (that's the bulimic roomie on the bed there)

Don't have a clue what horses they are, they don't look like any Breyers I can ID, not even the little ones. I'd think if her parents could afford to send her to a boarding school, they could afford real Breyers at the least!

Breyers in the NBA

During the All Star game they had a "fun" little event, the Geico "H-O-R-S-E" game (instead of spelling "horse" with each basket, they spelled "Geico". How exciting that must have been.)

So you've got these multi-millionaires jumping around in their underwear, and what does the winning player win?

A Breyer!

He looks thrilled, doesn't he?

Now to you and me, that might be a worthy prize! But reading the comments on this blog about it, it's pretty funny!

I wonder if that's one of a kind packaging, or did they just slap some stickers on an existing box.

Thanks to the sharp eyes on Blab for this info!

Revolutionary Road

In the movie "Revolutionary Road" we find the Breyer Running Mare and the Little Bits Morgan on the dresser.

Never mind this film is set in the 1950's, and neither of those models existed at that time. Better they should have gone with the Western Horse!

Thanks to Sarah R. for her sharp eyesight!

Tide Commercial

This one has been eluding me for weeks, thanks to better hunters than I for tracking it down!!
This is a commercial for "Tide" laundry detergent, with an angst-filled pre-teen whinging about not getting the $100.00 jeans she wanted. But at least she has a couple of Breyers, which I'd rather have had than jeans at that age!
Above the bed she has a Breyer "Madison Avenue" National Show horse (considering how tippy that model is, I can see it falling on her head in the middle of the night!)

And on the dresser is the black and white pinto Spotted Saddle Horse/Clock Saddlebred!
Trust me, that's what it is!

Thanks to the scouts for finding these for us to enjoy!

America's Funniest Home Videos

This was pointed out to me on YouTube. I don't know what to worry about more... the fate of the Classic Arabian Mare, or that little girl doing permanent damage to her reproductive organs!! (She sits on the poor CAS...those pointy little ears...ouch!!)
